Day 1 - Baunei, Arbatax, Fonni
Arrive to Sardinia and drive to Supramonte of Baunei and stop on the way at a nuragic tomb, one of the so-called giants' tombs, a collective burial area for the most important people of the nuragic society. Once in Baunei, visit also the Golgo tableland by a wheeled train. The area is famous for the deepest abyss of Europe (275 m). Stop at the nearby standing country church dedicated to San Pietro from the end of the XVII century before having the pic-nic with local products tasting. Proceed to Arbatax then for a photo stop at the red rocks, a group of rocks standing in the sea and considered one of the natural monuments of Sardinia. Carry on to Fonni, a village facing Gennargentu mountains and arrival at the hotel. For dinner taste the traditional menu and listen to the Sardinian music. Overnight in hotel.
Day 2 - Tonara, Laconi, Serri
Start the day in Tonara. Visit a local nugat (torrone) workshop to taste a deliciuos product made exclusivly with honey, eggwhite and dry nuts. Proceed across the mountainous Barbagia region up to Laconi. Visit the Museum of menhirs with great examples of the megalithic period and Admire also the Palazzo Aymerich built in the neoclassic style as a home of the last Marquess of Laconi. Lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon proceed to Serri to visit the sacred village of Santa Vittoria situated in the area that was inhabited in the XVI cebtury BC and was an important expression of the Nuragic religiousness. Proceed to Cagliari for dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 3 - Cagliari and Villasimius
Departure after breakfast along the south-east coast leading from Cagliari to Villasimius. Stop at the long and unspoilt beach of Simius for a walk. Afterwards drive back to Cagliari. Lunch on your own in the town center. During the afternoon explore the town of Cagliari with a special visit to Castello district that includes the Archaeological National Museum, the Saint Mary Cathedral. Do not avoid also the elephant's tower which dominates the southern part of the medieval town walls. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 4 - Pula, S. Antioco and Carbonia
Departure after breakfast along the south-west coast to Pula to visit the fascinating remains of Nora, an ancient town founded by the Phoenicians during the XIII century BC. It keeps surprising the archaeologists for the quality of its Carthaginians and Roman remains. Stop at the safeguarded beach of Chia and then continue to Sant'Antioco town. Lunch at restaurant. In the afternoon visit the local archaeological museum which has the second largest tophet in the Mediterranean area, and the catacombs located beneath St. Antioco's church. Proceed to Carbonia, a town built in 1938 in order to guarantee the accommodation for the miners wirking in the area of Sirai - Serbariu. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 5 - Carloforte, Iglesias
After the breakfast drive to Portovesme and embark the ferry to San Pietro island. Arrive to Carloforte town and disembark. This town dates back to XVIII century and its inhabitants speak an old Genoese dialect, nowadays recognized as a language. Visit the little town and taste of some local products, among others the local tuna fish. In the afternoon ferry back to Sardinia and visit Iglesias, a town with an illustrious past (one of the Sardinian royal towns, the town and the castle Salvaterra are protected by the town walls, on eof the main towns of miners in the second half of the XIX century) and a difficult, but very potential present. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 6 - Barumini and Tuili tableland
Leave Iglesias after breakfast and drive to Barumini famous for the huge Nuragic village Su Nuraxi dating back to the XVI century BC and registered in the UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Proceed to Tuili tableland for a walk during which try to catch a glimpse of the little horses: a breed which is unique for Sardinia. Traditional lunch with local products and some spare time before departure.
