Sardinia is one of the islands of the Mediterranean that have a very pleasant and suitable climate for summer holidays and tourism in general. Hot and dry summers from the end of May till the beginning of October alternate with mild and rainy winter.
Breeze on the coast is typical for summer season and it makes it more pleasant when the temperatures are above 35 °C, but it is not rare that they reach almost 40°C, both in the hinterland and on the sea shore. There are in average about 300 sunny days per year, that’s why the summer season lasts almost 6 months.
Winter on the sea shore is usually mild and sometimes wet, but there are many sunny days in winter, too. Just exceptionally the temperature falls under 0 °C. It is different in the Sardinian hinterland where the highest mountains reach almost 2000 m above sea level. Every winter snows up there and even if Sardinia is well known as s summer holiday locality there is also a skiing resort close to Fonni.
The most suitable period for beach holidays in Sardinia is from May to September, for those, who prefer trekking, cultural tours or just simply wandering around the most suitable months are from March to June and from September to November.
