Meet your guide and drive to Porto Cervo along the panoramic road. Cross the Cugnana Golf and the Cala di Volpe with its beautiful view over the sea and Liscia Ruja beach. In distance admire the isles of Mortorio and Mortoriotto. On your way to Porto Cervo it is possible to admire from distance also Porto Rotondo and Pevero Golf Club. Close to the snow-white beaches and among the Mediterranean scrub there are the beautiful luxury villas standing in the shadow of the trees.
The Emerald Coast was discovered by the Prince Karim Aga Khan. In 1962 the Costa Smeralda Consortium was born. That was the beginning of the era when Sardinia has became well-known all over the world. Right form the beginning of the development of the area the Architectural Committee played an important role. Their task was to transform an unspoiled area into an exclusive holiday paradise. They decided to promote homogeneous architectural development (low buildings emerged into the green surroundings, gardens, many summer-flowering plants etc.). The last important step for this was when in 1963 Karim Aga Khan solved the problem of transports by founding the airlines Alisarda, now known as Meridiana. During the summer holidays you can meet many VIP guests strolling around the Piazzetta square. Aga Khan gradually sold his properties to Sheraton and then passed to Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. However, the Prince returns to the Costa Smeralda every summer, especially to meet the pleasant commitments that are connected to his role of the President of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda situated in Porto Cervo Marina.
After a walk in the famous Piazzetta where all the best boutiques of the world are situated and a walk in the port admiring the luxury yachts drive to Arzachena. Close to it there is nuraghe La Prisgiona - a kind of an ancient construction that is typical for Sardinia. Nuraghes date back to the Bronze Age. They are the only proves we have about the ancient nuragic people. It is a kind of tower building made of roughly worked boulders. Over the centuries this kind of fortress became still more and more elaborated. Some additional rooms and spaces added to the basic tower-shaped building changed its external aspect. The most elaborated nuraghes were built in the period of the biggest development. Various serious studies have been made on the magnetic energy present inside the nuraghes.
After a glimpse to archeology, drive back to the coast and visit Baja Sardinia - another touristic center situated about 10 minutes by bus from Porto Cervo. It is situated right on sea shore. There is a possibility to do some shopping, to have pizza for lunch or to pass a couple of hours on the white sandy beach which is situated in front of the main square, just few stairs down from the town center.
